Links with other genealogical or local social history websites


The Upper Dales Family History Group would like to develop a reciprocal arrangement whereby we link our website with other appropriate sites in the region.

 

2 Dales:  A website with local information for Swaledale and Arkengarthdale, (including Monumental Inscriptions for St Andrew's, Grinton).

Dallowgill History Project  This site is to be used for a community project initially as a focus for the Dallowgill History Project “Discover Dallowgill ..."

Richmond with Hudswell Parish Richmond:  History; Misericord seats in choir; 14th century font and tower; Green Howards Chapel; Holy Trinity Chapel; photographs and much more.

Richmondshire Museum  Opened 1978.  Tells the story of Richmond from its earliest times. Galleries include: Leadmining, Transport, Herriot vet’s surgery, Chemist’s shop, Grinton Post Office. Reconstructions include: Fenwick’s original shop in Richmond; Cruck-house.

Swaledale Museum  The Museum is based in the 1836 Methodist Schoolroom in Reeth, just off the Green. Opened in 1973 displays cover local geology, archaeology, lead mining, farming, trades and crafts, domestic life and more. There is a cafe, shop and a local and family history archive. Swaledale in the 19th Century This is the home page for an ongoing series of essays about Swaledale and its immediate surroundings by Marion Hearfield, one of our members. Some essays use census data from 1841 to 1901 to explore the changes in migration, local occupations, and farming. Others look at home ownership and individual families.

The Parish of Swaledale with Arkengarthdale For anyone who would like to know more about the churches their ancestors used.

Wensleydale Past and Present  A compendium of interesting and useful information about the Dales. This website contains a number of historical references.
